April 17, 2025
Dear ,

As spring returns and our campus blossoms with new life, we find ourselves once again approaching Commencement—a season of celebration, pride, and reflection. It’s a time to honor the dedication of our students who have worked tirelessly over the past four years, and also an invitation for us, as alumni, to reflect on our own Marian journeys and the values that continue to shape our lives.

In this issue, we’re proud to celebrate Tevin Lake ’15, a standout running back and inspirational leader from the 2012 National Championship team, who is being inducted into the 2025 Clayton Family Circle of Honor Wall of Fame. Tevin’s commitment to service and leadership embodies the Franciscan values that define Marian University.

You’ll also hear from Dan Janich ’74, who shares heartfelt reflections on the impact Marian has had on his life. As he celebrated his 50th reunion last fall, Dan encourages us to consider how we might give back to the university that gave us so much to ensure future generations can experience what we did.

As we look ahead, may this season inspire you to reconnect, reflect, and reaffirm the Marian spirit that unites us all.

Alex Sylvester '12

Wishing you a joyful and blessed Easter from the Marian University Alumni Association. May this holy season bring you peace, renewal, and hope.

Tevin Lake '15 Inducted into Clayton Family Circle of Honor Wall of Fame

Marian University is proud to celebrate Tevin Lake ’15 as he is inducted into the 2025 Clayton Family Circle of Honor Wall of Fame. A standout athlete, dedicated leader, and devoted mentor, Tevin’s contributions on and off the field represent the very best of what it means to be a Knight.

During his time at Marian, Tevin played an instrumental role in the success of the Knights football program. As a key running back, he helped lead the team to its first NAIA National Championship in 2012 under Coach Ted Karras, Jr. His leadership and perseverance continued to drive the program forward, culminating in a conference-championship-winning 2014 season where he rushed for over 1,000 yards and earned MSFA Mideast Division Player of the Year honors for the second time. A two-time AFCA All-American, Tevin left an indelible mark on Marian football, holding program records for career rushes (1,167), career rushing yards (5,450), and career rushing touchdowns (63).

Since graduating, Tevin has continued making an impact as the co-owner of T2 Sports Performance, training young athletes in speed, agility, and strength while also mentoring them as leaders. His dedication extends beyond the field, working with Game Day NFL youth camps and assisting in rehabilitation efforts as a Physical Therapy Assistant.

Tevin embodies Marian’s Franciscan value of Responsible Stewardship, using his talents to uplift athletes, patients, and his community. His passion for developing young athletes, his dedication to helping individuals recover and rebuild, and his leadership in creating opportunities for others all reflect a deep commitment to sharing his talents and resources for the greater good.

We are incredibly proud of Tevin Lake for this well-deserved recognition!

The Gift of Impact

Special Message from Daniel N. Janich ‘74

Last October, I celebrated my 50th class reunion at Marian, a milestone that brought back many fond memories. Reflecting on my time there, I’m reminded of how Marian shaped my life, providing both an excellent education and a community that I’m proud to call my friends. The Franciscan values I gained have guided me throughout my legal career, and this gratitude inspires me to give back.

As you plan for the future, I invite you to consider including Marian in your estate plans. It’s a meaningful way to ensure that your legacy continues to inspire and educate Marian students long after you're gone.

Your thoughtful gesture today can provide a lasting impact and help secure the university’s mission for years to come. By giving back you not only enrich students' lives but help our Marian community continue to thrive.

I invite you to join me in this effort, and together, let’s make a positive impact.

When you notify Marian of your intent to give, you will be recognized as a Heritage of St. Francis Society member. Please contact John Finke at 317.955.6202, or jfinke@marian.edu, with any questions.
