AUGUST 6, 2024

Dear Colleagues,

A new screen in the Accreditation Data System (ADS) has been implemented for diagnostic radiology programs to assess early specialization in interventional radiology (ESIR) information on an annual basis. Under "Diagnostic Radiology Specialty Data," programs with ESIR designation will have a new Step 4, shown below. This new screen will collect attestation information related to whether the program has an active interventional radiology clinical service and ask the program to confirm that at least 50 percent of the rotations are procedure based. Additionally, the screens will ask programs to individually list all current interventional radiology faculty members and their qualifications. Providing this information will allow the Review Committee to monitor the stability of ESIR by providing better oversight of the ESIR track.

Additionally, the screens under "Diagnostic Radiology Specialty Data," Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3 (click on each step to view a screenshot) have now been made available for all interventional radiology – integrated programs to provide annual updates. These screens collect data for those faculty members representing each of the required eight practice domains, quality, safety, informatics, and the educational content areas. All programs are asked to complete these screens as part of the required ADS Annual Update.
