October 1st marked the beginning of the 2021 Water New Year. Remember to keep an eye on our 2021 Water Year webpage all month long for podcasts, posts, videos and a state-wide webinar on the state of Indiana waters and faculty water research throughout the state.

Issue no. 2 of Earth Today, our monthly environmental newsletter for undergrads, came out last week.

This month's issue features the College of Liberal Arts’ Environmental and Sustainability Studies Certificate program, an interdisciplinary certificate that employs a humanities perspective toward environmental and sustainability issues. Accompanying the certificate program is the course, “Introduction to Environmental and Sustainability Studies,” the cornerstone of the undergraduate certificate. In this issue, we also highlight the Purdue Student Chapter of the Wildlife Society, a student club devoted to wildlife management, science, and conservation.

NSF Infrastructure Innovation for Biological Research (Innovation)
The Infrastructure Innovation for Biological Research Program (Innovation) supports research to design novel or greatly improved research tools and methods that advance contemporary biology in any research area supported by the Directorate for Biological Sciences at NSF. The Innovation Program focuses on research infrastructure that is broadly applicable to researchers in three programmatic areas: Bioinformatics, Instrumentation, and Research Methods. Deadline: On-going

NSF Plant Genome Research Program (PGRP)
The PGRP supports genome-scale research that addresses challenging questions of biological, societal and economic importance. PGRP encourages the development of innovative tools, technologies and resources that empower a broad plant research community to answer scientific questions on a genome-wide scale. Training, broadening participation, and career development are essential to scientific progress and should be integrated in all PGRP-funded projects. There are two tracks: Research-PGR Track and TRTech-PGR Track. Deadline: On-going
