Significance of Juneteenth & the Presbytery of Whitewater Valley

The word Juneteenth is short for “June Nineteenth” and is the oldest commemoration of the end
of slavery in the United States.  On Wednesday, June 9, the Presbytery of Whitewater Valley made a presentation on the history of Juneteenth. This session also included how the Indianapolis community is commemorating this historic and significant moment in U.S. History. Learn how you can engage in the work of the Presbytery related to justice, equity, inclusion, and antiracism.

Northminster Reads
Our discussion of "What's Mine and Yours"
by Naima Coster has been rescheduled for Sunday, June 27, at 5:30 pm.  This is a sweeping novel of legacy, identity, and the American family -- and the ways race affects even our most intimate relationships.

On Sunday, July 18, we'll discuss "Concrete Rose" by Angie Thomas. In this searing and poignant exploration of Black boyhood and manhood, the author takes us back to Garden Heights 17 years before the events of The Hate U Give.  Join Parish Associate Carol McDonald for these Zoom meetings

Food Barrels
Since more and more of us are coming in person to church now, please remember to help out Westminster Neighborhood Center with food donations, specifically: rice dinners, pasta sauce, diced tomatoes, soup, peanut butter, or ANY non-perishable food items. They also need shampoo, dish soap & laundry soap. It's easy to pick up a couple of extra items when you are shopping for your own groceries.  Please leave donations in the Food Barrel in the Gathering Place.
