This week at Northminster

A note from Pastor Ruth
We will live stream Palm Sunday worship at 11 am on April 5th. The session met on March 31st and made some decisions about worship going forward. (Read more ...)

Palm Sunday, April 5

Ways to Participate in Palm Sunday Worship
- We will live stream the palm parade and the Passion story at 11:00 am.
- Make a palm to wave at home, or pick up a real palm leaf at the church
on the Gathering Place porch.  We'll leave them out in boxes until Sunday morning. There are some coloring pages that you can print out for your kids on our Palm Sunday event page.
- Post greetings to your Northminster friends during the service. On the streaming page, click Login and create your own account.
- Download and print the Sunday bulletin to follow along during Worship.
- If you can’t join us at 11, view the service recording later in the week.
- One Great Hour of Sharing Offering is being received from Palm Sunday, April 5th, through Easter Sunday.

Scriptures in Worship
Matthew 21: 1-11
and Matthew 26: 14 - 27: 66.

Join us for Holy Week
April 9 is Maundy ThursdayHere is a service to do at home.
April 10 is the Good Friday Service at 7:00 pm.  Join us online.  We will stream a simple service of scripture and song as we remember the crucifixion of Jesus.
April 12 is Easter Sunday.  We will celebrate the Resurrection during our 11:00 am live streaming service.

Easter cards and spring pictures are needed
To help us reach out to our homebound members we are asking for your help. Please draw or make an Easter card for us to mail. Send pictures of flowers or spring or something that brings you joy. Mail them to the church or put them in the marked box on the front porch of the Gathering Place. We need to receive those by Tuesday, April 7th.  Help us spread the good news of Easter – Jesus is risen, and that is something for us to celebrate!

Sidewalk Chalk Neighborhood Invitations
Help us invite neighbors to join us online on Easter Sunday.  Have your kids do some chalk art, along with a simple invitation like, "Join us at 11 AM on Easter Sunday online at northminster-indy.org".  Then share a photo of your invitation on Northminster's Facebook page, or email them to Susan Glant.

Community Connection information needed
We have volunteers making phone calls to check on our members and we are discovering we do not have current phone numbers (many of you no longer have land lines), e-mails and addresses. Please contact the church office to update your information. Help us stay a connected community of faith while we are not gathering in person.

How to contact the church staff
Go to our church website, click MENU, and then STAFF (under the About tab), and choose a specific staff person, or call the church office at 317-251-9489. A staff person will be checking messages, Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm. In case of a pastoral emergency, call Pastor Ruth Moore, at 317-753-3164.

Staying connected with the ShelbyNext app is easy!
This might be the perfect time to download and use Northminster's ShelbyNext app to help you stay connected with other Northminster church members, update your contact information, check the calendar, or give online.  Watch this short instructional video to learn how!

Ways to give
- Giving online: Go to the homepage of our website and click on Give at the top of the page, or simply click on Give at the top of each weekly email. You can give using your credit, debit card or bank account. (Did you know that if you use your bank account instead of a card your gift goes farther? The church doesn’t have to pay card processing fees when you use your checking account.)
- Checks can be mailed to the church: Northminster Presbyterian Church, 1660 Kessler Blvd. East Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46220.
- Contact Lori Schlabach to set up automatic giving from your checking account.

Church Operations Keep Rolling
The building may be closed, but your Northminster office and facility staff are still busy. We are experiencing both a new reality and constancy, just as you are. Here’s how we are keeping things rolling. (Read more...)

Memory of the Week
Remember when we could actually get together in the same place? Here’s a Northminster memory from Jennifer Dzwonar:

Around 2005, in the Peyton Manning era, Teri was doing a wonderful Children’s Moment on Jesus being baptized in the river by John the Baptist. Teri is dramatically acting it out, and when she raises her arms, as John did, with the dove descending on Jesus, she said, “And John the Baptist said to Jesus …” and a child knowingly responded, “Touchdown!” And the crowd went wild!

Do you have a special Northminster memory that you haven’t already submitted for our 75th Anniversary—an event, a moment, a personal gesture? Something funny, poignant, inspiring? Just a paragraph or two? If so, please email it to John Purcell.
