Protect your home from devastating fire
|
October is National Fire Prevention Month, which means it’s time to check your smoke detectors and other fire prevention tactics to keep your family safe!
But some may say, why bother? Here’s five reasons to consider ensuring that your home (and family) is protected:
3 of every 5 home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes with no working smoke alarms
Carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning is the #1 cause of accidental death in fire-related situations
60% of consumers do not test their smoke and CO alarms monthly
Only 47% of people report having CO alarms in their home
Less than 50% of homeowners have an escape plan
Source: National Fire Protection Association
The point? When a fire breaks out, every second counts. A professionally monitored security system with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors from Smithville Security enables quicker emergency response—around the clock. Click here for a 30-second video on key issues: Smithville Fire Protection.

Smithville supports Hoosier Hills Food Bank – what about you? |
As a teambuilding event in late September, the Smithville Network Engineering Team volunteered to assist the Hoosier Hills Food Bank. They helped the Food Bank prepare for their upcoming fundraiser ... a Book Fair! The team hauled books, books and more books from pallets into a building at the Monroe County Fairgrounds. They sorted the books by mystery, maps, music, romance, history, etc. and also alphabetized the books. All Engineers sported sore muscles Thursday!
You can find more information about the October 3 to 8, 2019 book fair at hhfoodbank.org.
