Message from Mike Norman, CEO
I hope you and your families all are staying safe, healthy, and practicing good self-care. For all you balancing home schooling and work at home, you are the real superheroes!! You have my utmost respect and admiration.
As we just completed the 7th week of our building being closed, I wanted to provide some Kentucky Science Center updates.

Despite the many uncertainties we're all facing, we're full steam ahead in our plans to promote science literacy throughout the region! Our leadership team and Board of Directors have been working to develop various scenario plans incorporating government requirements and best practices, with the safety of our team and guests as the priority.
We're also working through several reopening strategies for our School's Out Science Camps. We'll keep you updated on that progress, as we know this is a very important resource for children in the community to receive childcare in a way that is educational and fun.

Now more than ever, Kentucky Science Center needs your support. We'll be participating in KY Gives Day on Tuesday, May 12. Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Annual Fund during this closure, and we know KY Gives Day will be a huge success!

Until the time is right to reopen the building, we'll continue producing digital content so you can Do Science anywhere!

We hope to see you soon. Be safe!

KY Gives Day: Tuesday, May 12
Next Tuesday, May 12, support KSC by making a gift on KY Gives Day 2020
Your donation is an investment in accessible science education for all ages and backgrounds around the region. Prior to COVID-19, KSC was on track to provide science curriculum in every county in Kentucky and 92% of Indiana counties, accomplishments we first celebrated last year! This year’s funding will be used to support classrooms, libraries, and home schooled families through traveling programs and new distance education opportunities our team is currently developing. Your gift this upcoming Tuesday will be used to continue inspiring people of all ages to Do Science!

School's Out Science Camp
While there are still many unknowns currently, the Kentucky Science Center Camp team is working diligently, and optimistically, planning for this summer. Our hope is that sometime in the month of June we will re-open and can operate our School's Out Summer Camps

The values that embody our summer camp are needed for our campers now more than ever, to empower them to ask questions, play, explore, collaborate, test, experiment, goof up, and try again. Campers can experience the fun of learning new STEAM experiences with our engaging classroom activities and knowledgeable, experienced camp staff.
We are working to ensure that we maintain the quality of our camp experience while making accommodations to adhere to CDC policies such as smaller camp sizes, implementing social distancing, increased sanitizing and continued alignment with our state’s guidelines. Our team will be ready to welcome your camper into a safe and fun learning environment when public restrictions are lifted.

We miss our camp families and we are planning for the time when we will be back together, having fun, being curious, and Doing Science this summer.

My Big Little Adventure
Kentucky Science Center is proud to be a partner of My Big Little Adventure (MBLA), which offers a continually updated road map of activities, events, and resources designed especially for children ages 0-5 and their families and caregivers. My Big Little Adventure invites adults and kids to read, play, and explore together.

With so many events being canceled, MBLA has currently shifted to an online focus with a growing array of activities to spur learning, creativity, and of course a little fun during the week. The MBLA partners have increased the availability of online resources, including Giant Activities from Bernheim, Do Science at home activities from Kentucky Science Center, Creature Features from The Louisville Zoo, and storytelling from StageOne Family Theatre.

And of course, MBLA has many activities that can be done around the house or around the block as well.
