Community Engagement Showcase

The Power of an Hour

The first-ever Empower Hour was a success. It truly was an empowering hour! Panelists shared personal stories about their struggles and successes and shared their advice for students. “Don’t give up, network, and find a mentor” were common themes from the group. Panelist members included; Commissioner Fred Payne of Indiana Workforce Development, Joseph Eldridge with 100 Black Men, TJ Parker with Equitable Advisors, and William Turner with Skillful Indiana. Students were able to network and make lasting connections with these incredible men. The next Empower Hour will be in the Unity Center on Thursday, March 12, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and will include a panel of influential Indianapolis women!
Nursing Roundtables

Over 50 nursing students participated in our semi-annual Nursing Roundtables. The Exchange hosted 7 local hospital partners that were eager to meet with our May graduates as well as up and coming graduates. Each organization provided students with an overview of their hiring process as well as what positions are available to current nursing students. We learned so much about each hospital.  If you’d like to learn more about the organizations that attended and the opportunities they have, please reach out to The Exchange.

Career Development
Networking 101

No matter the industry, networking is essential to a long, successful career. The most successful networkers know that the real work begins well before the event begins and ends long after you get home. Preparation and follow-up are just as important as the networking event itself! Students, remember that you do have something to offer professionals that you may meet.
