Kajal Gulati Kajal Gulati, Assistant Professor, Agricultural Economics. Dr. Gulati’s research focuses on topical policy issues related to gendered labor markets and household decision-making, agricultural mechanization, and human capital formation. She earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Soka University of America, a master’s degree in public administration from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in agricultural and resource economics from the University of California, Davis
Yiwei Huang Yiwei Huang, Assistant Professor, Horticulture and Landscape Architecture. Dr. Huang earned a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from Huazhong Agricultural University, a master’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a master’s degree in urban design from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. She just finished her Ph.D. degree in geography from the University of California, Davis. Dr. Huang’s research mainly focuses on three separate but interrelated areas: landscape ecology, social and environmental justice, and placemaking and community engagement.

Eun Joong Oh Eun Joong Oh, Assistant Professor, Food Science. Dr. Oh received his Ph.D. in food science and human nutrition from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He most recently worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. His research centers on fermentation science and the biotechnological production of fuels and value-added chemicals using engineered microorganisms.


Lizhi Shang
Lizhi Shang, Assistant Professor, Agricultural & Biological Engineering. Dr. Shang earned his bachelor’s degree in thermal and power engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and master’s degree in mechanical engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology.  He completed his Ph.D. in agricultural and biological engineering at Purdue University where he served as a postdoctoral research assistant in the Maha Fluid Power Research Center.
Tor Tolhurst Tor Tolhurst, Assistant Professor, Agricultural Economics. Dr. Tolhurst’s research interests include applied microeconomics and empirical policy analysis in food and agriculture. His research program to date has focused on the measurement and consequences of infrequent, but impactful, tail events. He completed his bachelor’s degree in finance at the University of British Columbia, master’s degree from the University of Guelph and Ph.D. at the University of California, Davis.
Lei Zhang Lei Zhang, Assistant Professor in Plant Nematode-based Diseases. Dr. Zhang holds a joint appointment in the Departments of Botany & Plant Pathology and Entomology. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Beijing Forestry University and PH.D. in molecular plant sciences from Washington State University.
