Chair’s Corner

Stacey Baisden
The beginning of the semester is here. This year will be a little bit different as we de-densify the campus and remote work to Protect Purdue. As I continue to meet with leaders across campus on the Protect Purdue meetings, please continue to reach out if you have any questions. Do not hesitate to email me and I can share your questions with the others on the committee. See the full Protect Purdue Plan online.

MaPSAC has also been very busy with the start of this new semester. We had our first official meeting of the academic year and met with John Gates, vice provost for diversity and inclusion, along with Alysa Rollock, vice president for ethics and compliance. Dr. Gates shared his insight and discussed ways on how we as staff members can educate ourselves on diversity and inclusion. During his discussion he highlighted several upcoming virtual events for fall and spring semester centered around diversity and inclusion. I encourage all management and professional staff to keep an eye out for those virtual events in Purdue Today.

Do you know a Purdue staff member who actively volunteers his or her time in our community? Consider submitting a nomination for the 2020 Community Spirit Award, which is given annually to a staff member who sets a high standard for service, encourages a sustained commitment to civic participation, and inspires others to make service a central part of their lives. The award strives to honor Purdue employees who actively volunteer their time to improve our community. See more information about the award on our website. MaPSAC and CSSAC are accepting nominations through Sept. 4, 2020. The nomination form is online at https://purdue.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cvABWaldHj1Nvtb

In closing, I encourage you to learn who the MaPSAC members are from your area by viewing the members page on our website. When you have a compliment, a concern, a question, an idea, or a solution we want to hear from you!
