Dear ,
Merry Christmas and happy holidays from the Marian University Alumni Association!
We hope you’re keeping warm, festive, and bright as 2024 comes to a close. I’m sure I speak for a lot of us when I say, winter time at Marian is special. Just an inch or two of snow paired with the lights and decorations of numerous buildings across campus and the quietness that comes with an ended semester makes for a beautiful scene. If you have the chance to come out and visit, you absolutely should.
Additionally, we’ve been given a gift this holiday—the hiring of Autumn Martin ’10 and Leah Marin ’22 for the Office of Alumni Engagement! Autumn will be serving as the Director of Alumni Engagement, and Leah will be serving as the Alumni Engagement Specialist. Below, you can read about these women and what they’re excited about for these roles.
As always, if you have any questions or comments, or would like to discuss how you can be better engaged, please reach out to the Office of Alumni Engagement at alumni@marian.edu.
Thanks!

AUTUMN MARTIN '10 As Director of Alumni Engagement, I am most excited to hear from alumni of all generations about how their time at Marian has shaped their personal, professional, and spiritual lives and to share opportunities to stay actively connected to the University’s present and help shape its future.
I join Marian’s Institutional Advancement team as a multi-faceted marketing and communications professional who is passionate about using storytelling and design to drive engagement, support strategic initiatives, and foster meaningful connections.
I’m thrilled to return to MU and reconnect with you!

LEAH MARIN '22 I grew up in Lafayette, IN and am a proud 2022 Marian alumna. While attending Marian, I was a member of the Marian Knight Dancers. After graduation, I returned as one of the assistant coaches for the dance team—it gives me so much pride to coach this team, not only because it's for my alma mater, but because I was once a member.
Outside of Marian, I am married to my husband, Jake, who is also a 2022 alumnus. We just bought our first home and have a dog named June.
I am most looking forward to building connections and engaging with alumni to promote a sense of belonging and pride in their alma mater. I am eager to grow and expand the alumni base while highlighting our gifted alum.

PASSING OF SR. MONICA ZORE, OSF With great sadness, we must share that Sr. Monica Zore, OSF, an emeritus faculty member of Marian University, has recently passed. She died peacefully in hospice, at the Motherhouse in Oldenburg.
Sr. Monica’s life was a beautiful example of faith, dedication, and the Franciscan values that have shaped the heart of Marian University. She served our community faithfully and with great love for nearly four decades, teaching mathematics to generations of students. She began teaching at Marian College in 1983 and remained with Marian University until 2022.
Please keep Sr. Monica, as well as all those grieving, in your prayers. |

MARIAN STUDENT RESTORES PAINTING ON USPS STAMP Marian University senior, Allie Miller, played a key part in restoring Giovanni Battista Salvi da Sassoferrato's painting of the Madonna and Child during her internship with the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields.
The image was also selected by the United States Postal Service for its 2024 Christmas stamp—210 million copies were produced for widespread distribution.

MARIAN.EDU EMAILS WILL BE TERMINATED 1 YEAR POST-GRAD In the past, Marian has offered life-long access to student email accounts post-graduation. However, with 50,000+ maintained accounts, to continue to do so would be a security risk. This means that starting January 1, 2025, all student email accounts will be eliminated one year post-graduation.
If you are not a current student and have not taken classes in over a year, your marian.edu and Office365 email account will be terminated on December 31, 2024.
If you have emails or documents saved in these accounts, we recommend you transfer those as soon as possible. |
