A LETTER FROM  THE PRESIDENT

As the semester gets underway, I want to share a quick update on semester bus fares, ongoing conversations around transportation and housing, and additional support for off-campus housing concerns.

Semester bus passes are now available through the EZ Fare app. To purchase a pass, download the app and log in using your Purdue email address. From January 1 through January 25, semester bus passes will be available for $22. After January 25, the semester fare will return to $62, so this is a good window to take advantage of the discounted price. In addition, from January 1 through January 19, every 50th semester pass purchased will receive a full retroactive refund. Refunds will be processed by January 25, and you might be one of the lucky winners.

The Action Council on Student Housing and Well-Being met yesterday for the first time this semester, and there has been encouraging progress on housing-related discussions. I am working with the Office of the Dean of Students to support students in making informed decisions about off-campus housing and navigating the leasing process. This work is especially important for students who face added barriers in securing housing, including international students and others new to the local rental market. The goal is to make sure students living off campus have clearer access to resources and support when challenges arise.

To continue this conversation, a town hall on transportation and housing will be held on January 29 in Beering Hall, BRNG 2280. I’d really like to see you there. This will be a space to listen, exchange ideas, and talk honestly about what’s working and what isn’t, and I invite you to be part of that conversation.

As always, I’m open to hearing your concerns. If something is unclear or you need help figuring out next steps, feel free to reach out.

Wishing you a strong start to the semester.

At your service,

Shalom Kpetsu
President,
Purdue Graduate Student Government 2025-2026
